Please Enjoy Your Stay
I started off like Miss Sunshine in a pretty party dress, my heart a bright red and blue ‘Open’ sign for the motel on that dark roadside where most accidents happen. With a smile, I would give beds away in exchange for good company. Caveat Venditor. My hourglass guests paraded as residents, and I'd serve Eggs Benedict when they only paid for scrambled. The room keys rarely made their way back to the front desk; breakfast would grow stale and crumble away in bloody bed-sheets. A piece of my heart carved out and left in each room. I have since learned a smile is the best place to hide a knife, and I should lock the door more often.
